Help us dream of an inclusive future!
Support Ankita to participate in the Ultimate Peace Camp. We are raising funds for her travel to Lawrenceville, NJ.
Meet Ankita, a dynamic young Ultimate Frisbee athlete and coach from Hyderabad, India. At just 18, she is a staunch advocate for equitable opportunities in sport even though she has had to face numerous challenges in being able to pursue her own passion for Ultimate.
Ankita's Story
Determined to be the voice that inspires others through sport, Ankita's journey is a testament to resilience and determination.
Our youngest Coach in Training at Project Gamechangers, Ankita has had to face several economic, social and personal challenges since a very young age.
Their small household of 4, was held together by her parents' meager incomes as daily wage workers – Covid 19 only made this worse with her father losing his job and her mother having fewer opportunites.
Her parents still strived through these tough times and put two children into college- a substantial economic strain for them.
While they have tried their best to make sure she can continue her education and passion for Ultimate, they’re not in a position to support her in pursuing this journey to Camp Ultimate Peace.
It isn’t often that you spot girls in her neighborhood and community pursuing sport. This hasn't deterred Ankita’s pursuit of excellence in Ultimate Frisbee. She dreams of transforming the sports landscape for women in India, starting with her own community in Hyderabad.
We’re proud of her immense grit to not give up and continue to push back and carve her own niche through the sport of Ultimate! She has remained steadfast and dreams of transforming the sports landscape for women in India.
Over the last 6 years, she has been part of many teams anchoring programs and outreach initiatives to spread the sport to more community members in Hyderabad. She has also continued to train and upskill with her organization, Goosebumps, and proactively participates in ensuring they have fair and equitable systems for all.
Last year she also represented her state team at the National Inter-state Championship- the Bharat Trophy.
Ankita envisions a future where women are represented in every field, breaking free from societal expectations of staying at home- education and taking more leadership roles is only the starting step towards fighting the rigid and unrelenting patriarchal systems they face everyday.
She believes that when women can make their own decisions, they can also inspire and enable others around them to do the same.
Today, she has the opportunity to represent Indian Ultimate at Camp Ultimate Peace and she needs your support to be able to make it!
Your support will help Ankita create a more inclusive and equitable future for Indian sports. We believe that this is just the beginning for Ankita. Once she is back home, she will continue to coach & mentor young women as part of the Game Changers program.
Even a small donation will go a long way in helping her achieve this.
